The Chimera Quickdraw from DMM has been designed for any type of climbing where weight is paramount. We're talking alpine climbing, trad onsighting, or large scale multi-pitch climbing. In order to engineer a carabiner with such a low weight, DMM have utilised intelligent technology. For example, the use of Dynatec 11mm slings strike a balance between ultra low-weight and durability, resulting in a lightweight quickdraw that can still withstand repeated use. The Biners themselves have wire gates that further cut down weight, whilst also being less likely to freeze or snag on the rope whilst clipping.
DMM use a secondary forging process in the Chimera's production that creates a recess in the nose of the biner that houses the gate notch. Resultantly, this provides a smooth inner profile that further prevents snagging on gear, ropes, and slings. Furthermore, it helps guard against accidental gate opening caused by the biner rubbing on the rock.
The Chimera's IBeam construction provides its strength, this is attained by a process called Hot-forging, allowing metal to be made into complex shapes, that improves functionality for us climbers.
The proof is in the pudding. DMM are renowned for their quality gear, and the Chimera Quickdraw is oozing with it.
